Nutrition Consultancy

Nutrition consultancy is a service for those who want to assess their
lifestyle and diet and take positive steps towards improving their health. The aims of the consultations are
to support every individual in reaching their health goals by providing the information, techniques
and guidance needed to do this. In order to offer nutritional therapy consultations
it is essential that a person is a certificated and registered practitioner in nutrition, nutritional therapy
or nutritional medicine. As a qualified nutritional medicine practitioner, I am certificated in all of the above.
As a long-standing member of BANT (the British Association of Nutritional Therapists)
I am obliged to abide by their code of
ethics and practice, and to demonstrate continuing professional development. I also meet the standards of, and have attained my
accreditation with the Nutritional
Therapy Council; the regulatory body for nutritional therapy whose mission is to establish, uphold and advance the standards
of qualifications, competence, and conduct of those who practise nutritional therapy as a profession, in order to protect the public and
provide guidance to employers.
Specialising in Nutritional Medicine
Nutritional medicine is a complimentary therapy medicine, that focuses on the medicinal and
health enhancing properties that occur when an individual follows a dietary and lifestyle
programme that is optimum for them. Treatment plans consist of diet, supplementary nutrient, and
detoxification programmes (when needed), to improve a persons vitality and health levels. These
programmes are suitable for people of all levels of health, from those interested in nutrition and well-being,
to those with more specific health problems.
As well as improving general health and well-being, a practitioner of nutritional medicine
is able to offer help with a wide variety of health issues including; digestive problems,
hormonal disorders, weight management, low energy levels, depression, anxiety,
eczema, high cholesterol, candida and blood sugar
imbalances.
Whilst anyone can make changes to their diet, the ability to apply
nutrition to health, effectively calls for well developed professional
skills. These are based upon the knowledge of how to improve a persons vitality.
They are also based upon the knowledge of what goes wrong in an
individual when ill health occurs, and the methods available to facilitate an
improvement in health.
The health plans devised in a nutrition consultation are based on
medical, family and dietary histories, as well as a current physical
assessment. The treatments offered are drug free in nature,
and aim to support the bodies natural biological processes.

Why Nutrition Consultancy is Needed?
There are a growing number of supplements and diets being offered on the marketplace.
Most of these are undertaken through self-prescription and guess work, often as a result of
the latest article in the press. The results can be haphazard, as none of these methods work on the basis of
understanding an individuals unique requirements. A consultation in nutritional medicine provides effective treatment
for the individual, recognising that every persons nutritional needs differ. The need for practitioners today is
emphasized by the increasing number of people who want to improve their health and well-being, acknowledging
the significance of nutrition in achieving this.
